Kathy Davis
Volunteer Coordinator
By Colleen Arnold
The
newest volunteer at the Diversity Council is Kathy Davis, who will
take on the brand new role of Volunteer Coordinator. “I
see my role as one that would enhance the Diversity Council by
encouraging people to volunteer and then fitting the volunteers
to the job that best fits their talents,” she explains.
Kathy recently represented the Diversity
Council at our booth at a Boys and Girls Club event. She
was enthusiastic about being able to talk to people about the organization. “I
believe in the importance of the Diversity Council and educating
people in how to achieve diversity,” Kathy emphasized.
Retired from the Rochester public schools,
Kathy traded her fourth grade classroom for part-time work with
children at Aldrich Memorial Nursery School.
Kathy comes to the Diversity Council with
a wealth of experience and a talent for organization. For the last
three years she served as the volunteer coordinator for the Hiawatha
Homes Festival of Trees. Not one to rest on her laurels,
Kathy also keeps busy with a number of other community and church
activities. You might see her in the halls at Century
High School, or as an event chair at RochesterFest.
When this busy contributor heard that the
Diversity Council needed help, she stepped in saying, “I’m
big on volunteering and thought that I could help.” Now
when community members want to help this organization, Kathy will
be there, ready to match the volunteer to the job that needs to
be done!
