Kimberly Hall
Board Member
By Katrina Neckuty-Fodness
Kimberly Hall moved to Rochester almost
six years ago, and has been an active part of diversity discussions
in our community ever since. A native of Indianapolis, Kimberly
has been passionate about diversity throughout her life. “I have always had an interest
in diverse cultures,” said Kimberly. “I suppose it
is because my own heritage is so multicultural—I have French,
Cherokee, Jewish, and African-American roots. This has really laid
the foundation and appreciation of diversity in my life.”
Kimberly works in Human Resources at the Mayo Clinic and has been
an integral part of their varied diversity initiatives. Aside from
partnering with the Diversity Council to educate Mayo Clinic staff
on diversity, Kimberly plays an instrumental role with assisting
physicians and scientists at the clinic increase the number of
minorities and women in similar roles.
Before coming to Mayo Clinic, Kimberly worked in human resources
in Indianapolis, where she made finding diverse resources for her
clientele a priority.
Outside of the clinic, Kimberly has
been an active board member for the Diversity Council for the
past year. “It didn’t
take much to get me involved with the council,” said Kimberly. “I
have always been impressed with how the Diversity Council has kept
abreast of what happens in the Rochester community.”
Kimberly is a graduate of Purdue
University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology,
and of the University of Minnesota, where she completed her MBA
at the Carlson School of Management. Her studies at the U of
M have fed into her second passion: global markets and international
relations.
While completing her MBA, Kimberly
had an opportunity to visit Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Santiago,
Chile, where she was able to study businesses in emerging countries
and learn firsthand the value understanding cultural differences. “I love watching
global and international trends,” said Kimberly. “It’s
important to recognize that for as many differences we see amongst
cultural communities, there are also many commonalities.”
These commonalities, whether global
or in our growing city of Rochester, feed Kimberly’s passion,
providing the Diversity Council with another valuable team member
in our mission to promote inclusiveness.
